In essence it had everything that a stylish late 1960’s gentleman could wish for from his steed - pedigree, power and style! Car & Driver's writers said at the time ’The GTC is a tasteful blend of the mean-and-low look of Ferrari competition GT cars, with the elegance of super-luxury street Ferraris of the past. Detail work, finish, panel fit, every aspect is superlative.' Sporty magnesium alloy Campagnolo wheels replaced the traditional wire-spoked Borranis as standard equipment, a move which marked the start of a trend in Ferrari road cars. Ultra slim pillars and a generous glass area afforded the occupants a bright and sunny interior with a sense of spaciousness. Leather seats, electric windows and heated rear screen were standard whilst a radio, air conditioning and Borrani wire wheels were the options. Ferrari produced 600 330 GTC’s between 1966 and 1968.
This exceptional, time-warp 330 GTC from 1968 was acquired by its present owner in Rome in 1970. An owner of several other Ferraris he drove it sparingly and for the last time in 1973, as evidenced by the 1973 Italian road tax and insurance still in the windscreen. Roll forward 47 years and this wonderful Ferrari still resides in Rome in the same ownership and remains in exceptional original condition. The original Ferrari factory colour scheme of Grigio Mahmoud over red leather (rosso VM3171) is an extremely attractive combination and the paint and interior present very well and as original. The cosmetic condition of the car, in particular the well preserved interior, is lovely and could be beautifully revitalised. The chrome and the wheels show their age a little more but are perfectly presentable whilst mechanically the car will require re-commissioning. The car is complete with a full compliment of original books, tools, jack and a period Ferrari fire-extinguisher.
This sexy 1960’s Ferrari represents an extremely rare discovery and the perfect example of an entirely original motorcar ready and waiting for a light, cosmetic restoration and re-commissioning mechanically to bring it back to life ready to be driven again as it should be - fast and well! A truly exciting find for a discerning buyer looking for something special. With careful attention this GTC could be brought back to its sporting best whilst wearing its age, patina and most importantly, originality, with pride A very sophisticated, desirable and usable Ferrari GT Coupe from the late ‘60’s.
